Scaleform to Unveil Scaleform GFC User Interface Game Suite at the Austin Game Conference

GREENBELT, MD, October 25, 2005: Scaleform Corporation, a leading provider of rich graphical user interface (GUI) and scalable vector graphics engines, announced today that it will demonstrate two powerful cross-platform GUI game solutions, Scaleform GFC and Scaleform GFx, at the Austin Game Conference in booth 312, October 27th - 28th.

The Scaleform GFC engine is designed to drastically reduce the burden and expense of complex user interface creation, by providing rich C++ GUI components with a convenient set of visual layout and theme editing tools. The Scaleform GFC SDK is marketed toward PC and next generation console development, and will be on display inside the Civilization IV demo stations.

Firaxis Games, a world-renowned game developer and early adopter of the Scaleform GFC engine, chose Scaleform GFC to reduce engineering risk and speed development time of their highly anticipated title Sid Meier's Civilization IV. "The Scaleform GUI system has been helping us create a streamlined, easy-to-use interface in Civ IV," said Jeff Briggs, Founder, President and CEO of Firaxis Games. "It's a powerful tool that provided us the type of support we needed to help make Civ IV the best experience yet."

Scaleform will unveil Scaleform GFx - the first hardware accelerated lightweight vector graphics engine that supports the latest Flash file format and is designed specifically for game developers. "When we asked console game developers what tool they wished they had for creating dynamic user interfaces and animating textures, we got one reply: Flash. We answered their request and developed Scaleform GFx," said Scaleform CEO Brendan Iribe.

Scaleform anticipates a great response from the game developer community to Scaleform GFx. Video game developers have long been searching for a way to integrate Adobe's Shock Wave Flash (SWF) content into the game experience. With Scaleform GFx, developers will be able to leverage a legion of artistic talent that is already highly skilled in Flash.

"The two products compliment each other very well. Using Scaleform GFC and proven visual tools like Flash, we see the game market moving to a new level of Cinematic UI," said Scaleform CEO Brendan Iribe.

Special Announcement: Along with the two product demos, Scaleform will show the recently released Sid Meier's Civilization IV, developed by Firaxis Games. Civilization IV is the first title to integrate Scaleform's GUI Foundation Class (GFC) library, which Firaxis used to create the game's sleek new interface. Come by booth 312 at the Austin Game Conference and sign up for a chance to win one of 10 copies of Civilization IV, autographed by the legendary creator of the series, Sid Meier.
